‘Disgusting Domino’s People’ big fat ‘No No’

dominoslogoOn Monday, April 13 a video titled ’Disgusting Domino’s People’ (click here to watch clip) was posted on YouTube by two Domino’s Pizza employees. The video features the employees inappropriately handling and preparing one of the chain’s sub-sandwiches. The clip shows one of the employees sticking pieces of cheese up his nose and performing other gross actions on camera.

Needless to say the clip is causing the fast food chain what USA Today calls,  ”A PR nightmare scenario.”

Working in fast food retailers can be grueling. Dealing with rude customers all day long, and attempting to keep a smile while preparing someone’s meal in the safest way possible can be challenging. Dear reader, please trust me, I know.

Ahh! I remember those days of my youth. In fact, I remember this as if it had happened only a few months ago.  Well… Actually, it did.

During the last semester of my senior year of high school, in March of 2008, I decided I needed extra cash for my senior expenses; prom, graduation and such. I quickly acquired a job at a local ice-cream and burger joint.

Dealing with customers who are very specific about what they want, who demand it NOW is tough. I quickly learned the best way to get customers in and out of the establishment faster and satisfied. All employees must keep a positive attitude while following the preparation procedures to the key, simple as that. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out.

No matter how tired you are, no matter how rude people are, messing with people’s food is a BIG FAT NO NO!

Messing with anyone’s food should never be done, under any circumstance, EVER!

Yes, I admit sometimes the lovely customers may be picky, demanding and obnoxious, but this should not be used as an excuse to mess with the client’s product.

I applaud the quick response of the chain’s leaders, who immediately fired and pressed charges against these less than role model employees. According to USA Today, “An arrest warrant was issued Wednesday for Michael Anthony Setzer, 32, of Conover, N.C., and Kristy Lynn Hammonds, 31, of Taylorsville, N.C., for food tampering, a felony in North Carolina.”

If anyone is to take anything away from this disgusting tale please take the following:

1. Never ever, not even in thought, mess with other people’s food,

2. Acts like this are not funny, and most importantly

3. If you are stupid enough to actually do something like this and post it on the Web, you deserve to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, not only for committing a felony but for being a total IDIOT!

They say payback is a B, I say the web is the B’s new best revenge buddy.

Patrick Doyle, president of Domino’s, responds to the video of (now former) Domino’s team members.
