O’Bye O’Brien

Conan O'Brien host of "Late Night" will replace Jay Leno as host of "The Tonight Show" June 1.
Today is the day, the day where we must say goodbye.
Today, Friday Feb. 20, 2009 will be forever known as the day when Mr. Conan O’Brien is no longer the host of “Late Night” on NBC.
When Jay Leno announced that he would not renew his contact with the network for another season of “The Tonight Show”, the ideal candidate for his replacement was obvious, in Lizzy’s mind at least. (Please insert Joel Godard’s voice here) Conan Ohhhhh Braaa ieeeeeeen!
It’s sad to see O’Brien’s 16 year successful comedy run on “Late Night” end, but this can’t be all that bad. For O’Brien, primetime can’t be all that bad.
O’Brien’s famous “String Dance” on primetime, is a very nice thing when you think about it.
Even though I’m sad to see him go, move or whatever you choose to call this switch, I’m hopeful for the future of NBC’s nighttime programming.
The Jimmy Fallon era begins March 2, and I really hope Fallon can raise up to the challenges and the responsibilities that being the host of “Late Night” entails.
Hasta Luego. Farewell.
See you June 1 Mr. Conan O’Brien! See you June 1!
